About Arthur

Arthur Takahashi is from Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. He came to the United States in January 2006 with an athletic scholarship to play for the Winthrop tennis team and pursue his education in journalism.

Being from Brazil, Arthur’s first language is Portuguese. He is also fluent in English and Spanish and is learning French.

In his freshman year at Winthrop, Arthur started writing for The Johnsonian, the Winthrop’s student newspaper.

He came up with the idea of having an international news section to bring more diversity to the paper. In his sophomore year, he became the first international news editor of The Johnsonian.

He worked as the managing editor in his junior year and is the editor-in-chief in his senior year.

After he graduates in May 2010, Arthur wants to get his masters in either education or history.
